Zanussi ZCV651 electricity going off when switch on oven
Hi There, I have a Zanussi Cooker, every time i try to turn on the fan oven the electricity goes off and needs to be reset. I have tried it a few times and it does the same thing. Would i be right in thinking the element has blown. How can i check if this is the case, also which element would i need to buy to fix the problem. My Zanussi Model Number is ZCV651. Many Thanks. This is HTR Portugal. Working on FAQ's, HSCL - No Need to Reply..

When you switch on your Zanussi ZCV651 Oven and the electricity in your home trips off mean that the element in the oven is going to earth and makes the electricity trip off for safety reasons. Firstly I would as you to check the element is faulty, to do this just watch the video I have place below, this will show you how to test the fan oven element. Assuming the element is faulty i have listed the replacement element to match your machine below. I have also added some useful video tutorials which will show you how to replace the element. (the videos may not be on the exact machine but will be similar)
For your future reference, I’ve included some Common faults with these Zanussi ZCV651 or ZCV661 Oven cookers to assist you in the future or anyone else reading this.
- The oven will not turn on
The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.
- No Heat in Oven
If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.
- Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill
This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.
- The grill element doesn't work
This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.
- The ZCV651 or ZCV661 oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy
The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.
- The ZCV651 or ZCV661 oven overheats and burns everything
Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.
- The ZCV651 or ZCV661 oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while
This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
