This video will not only show you how to test the heating circuit and diagnose the problems

The basics of testing and understanding problem, you may have with your tumble dryer.

Understanding Sensor Dry Technology in Tumble Dryers

Modern tumble dryers from Bosch, Neff, Siemens, Constructa, and Balay are equipped with advanced sensor dry technology 🌟. This feature enhances the efficiency of the drying process by using moisture sensors. These sensors are strategically placed within the drum to monitor the level of moisture in the air and thus determine the residual dampness in the clothes.

How Moisture Sensors Work

The moisture sensors function by measuring the electrical resistance in the air inside the drum 🔍. Wet clothes will release moisture into the air, increasing the resistance. As the clothes dry, the resistance decreases. This change allows the dryer to assess the level of dryness of the clothes. If a malfunction occurs, it may be due to the sensors being coated with lint or residue, which can interfere with the accuracy of the measurements.

Inspecting the Heating Element and Thermostats

A detailed instructional video can be provided to assist users in examining the dryer's heating element and the accompanying thermostats 🔥. Some models are equipped with a cut-out thermostat that requires replacement when triggered. Another key component is the NTC sensor, which is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the air entering the drum.

Temperature Regulation and Control

The information from the NTC sensor is communicated to the main control board of the dryer 🧠. The programmer then adjusts the temperature by activating or deactivating the heating element via a relay. This process ensures optimal drying conditions and prevents overheating.

Testing Process Overview

To ensure the dryer operates effectively, a series of tests can be conducted. These may include:

  1. Cleaning the moisture sensor probes to ensure accurate readings ✨.
  2. Checking the continuity of the thermostats to confirm they are operating correctly 🛠️.
  3. Testing the NTC sensor for resistance changes in response to temperature variations 🌡️.
  4. Assessing the relay and heating element functionality to ensure proper heating cycles ⏲️.

These tests can be carried out using a multimeter and following safety precautions to diagnose and resolve common issues with the tumble dryer.

When you need parts for your tumble dryer, ensuring you have the correct model number from the identification plate is crucial. Typically, you'll find this number in two places: on an identification plate at the back of the machine and possibly inside the door on another plate. However, these numbers can fade over time, so keeping a record of your full model number is always a good precaution in case you need to order parts.

Our UK depot stocks a wide range of parts, but with over a million different parts for tumble dryers, sometimes we might not have what you need immediately available. Fortunately, our European suppliers can dispatch parts swiftly. You can easily find what you need using the search function above or by utilizing our tumble dryer model finder tool. As you might discover, pinpointing the exact part for your dryer can be a complex task.
