I will try and help with this problem about Miele W522 Washing Machine
Hi Richard, it seems that Miele washing machines often face an issue with the spider breaking over time. To help you find a replacement, please use your full model number from the identification plate, and I'll provide a link to a European distributor who should have them in stock if available. Be aware that some Miele components can be quite costly. Miele W522 Washing Machine parts
Over the past 20 years, I've noticed more drum bearing spiders collapsing, possibly due to manufacturers using a different type of aluminium than before. However, without analysis, I can't confirm this. In certain water areas, these spiders may break after just 7-8 years, which could be caused by electrolysis or detergents affecting the aluminium. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact reason, but the issue seems to be increasingly common.
To assist you further, I've added some helpful videos below. Remember to use your full model number from the identification plate when ordering parts. While I have many second-hand parts available, I don't have any related to the drum since the last machine I made a video on had a collapsed drum and therefore wasn't listed in the parts below.
