Hoover Tumble Dryer DX C9TCE-80 Dynamic Next Trips RCD as soon as switched on at socket

by / Tuesday, 29 December 2020 / Published in

RCD tripped taking out all of the downstairs power while dryer was running.Process of elimination pointed at dryer. As soon as I plug in and switch on the RCD goes again. Could it be a mains filter? If so, where is it?PS, I’m a spark by trade.

I will try and help with this problem Hoover dx c9tce-80 Condenser Tumble Dryer

it is possible that it could be the electrical filter at the back right-hand side of the machine, but from experience with these tumble dryers it is usually damp around the heater area this can cause the element to trip the rcd, if you have a mega or an insulation tester you will be able to isolate the problem, but if you do not it will be a process of elimination you could try disconnecting the heater and seeing if it starts, if it is not the heater then you may have a direct short from the motor or some other electrical component, I have included an exploded diagram of your machine with all the parts listed below I have also included some videos to assist you in your repair
