by / Thursday, 03 October 2019 / Published in

Hi. I seem to have a problem with the main oven on my Leisure Cooker. The Model Number is GRB6CVC. When i turn the oven on the internal light comes on and the fan starts but the oven does not heat up at all. I have hear this can be caused by the element going. Is their a way to check this and can you let me know which element i would need for my model of cooker. Thanks Very Much.

I will try and help with this problem of your Leisure GRB6CVC main oven not heating up.

When an oven comes on and the light and fan are on but the oven does not heat up means that the element has gone. This can be tested to be sure. I have placed a video below which will guide you through the process of testing an element. I have listed the appropriate elements which fit you model of cooker. I have also placed some tutorial videos from our YouTube Channel which will guide you through replacing the faulty element with the new one. (The videos may no be from the exact machine that you have but will be similar)

For your future reference, I’ve included some Common faults with these Leisure GRB6CVC or GRB6CVR Oven cookers to assist you in the future or anyone else reading this.

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The Leisure GRB6CVC or GRB6CVR oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The Leisure GRB6CVC or GRB6CVR oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The Leisure GRB6CVC or GRB6CVRoven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.

Hi, I have a problem with top oven on my Leasure AL60GAC gas cooker, When I turn the oven on, a horrible chemical smell comes out. It is not gas smell. It seems like insulation burns. Could you please let me know what it could be and possibility of repair? Thanks,
    Natalia
