The Cooker or Oven trips Electricity Rcd or fuse on the main fuse board when you turn the oven on: Common Faults to look for.
- Element's tripping electric supply RCD on fuse board
There are two ways elements become faulty: the first is they become open circuit which means that the element will not heat ( see our other video on this). the second is you get an earth leakage fault this will trip the RCD breaker on your fuse board. - Bad connections on the terminal block
Many cookers are wired incorrectly into the electrical supply and sometimes the Neutral wire will get hot This can cause damage to spade connectors and also the main terminal block if it gets hot it can cause damage to the main terminal connection block. - Damaged selector switch
One of the main problems with selector switches are that people have a tendency to flick through the programmes with the thermostat on this can cause damage to the Selector switch very easily, the reason this happens as you are putting excess amperage load onto the Selector points - Other components on cookers and ovens, that can trip the electricity. motors, thermostats, cut-out switches lamp assemblies
It only takes a chaved wire or burnt connections for the RCD to trip it is designed to protect you from electric shocks, when this happens and you know there are no problems with any other components you want to be looking for for her and connections, damaged components like safety cut-out stats, thermostat, light fittings etc
