White Knight Crosslee Compact Tumble Dryer not heating or tripping electric supply
White Knight CrossleeTumble Dryer not heating or tripping electric supply
This video will show you how to identify and replace a faulty heater element on a White Knight CL382WV. This tutorial and, this specific element, fits several White Knight models as well see later on.
There are three main symptoms that can point to a faulty heater element in a tumble dryer:
- The clothes are taking to long to dry;
- The clothes don't dry at all;
- Starting the tumble dryer trips the electric.
You can watch our other videos on how to test elements at the end of this guide.
In this case the machine was tripping the electric.
Replacing heater element on a White Knight CL382WV
1. Disconnect the appliance from the electric supply!
2. Remove the back lid of the tumble dryer to get to the element housing.
3. Always good practice to take notes of where the wires came from, take a photograph!
4. unscrew the Thermostat from the element housing, disconnect the wires from the element and then unscrew the element housing itself from the back of the machine.
5. unscrew the element from its housing.
6. Test the old element for power leakage to earth and compare with the new one. With the multimeter to ohms, the old element registered a reading, meaning a resistance to current between the two measuring points. The new element gives out no reading, as expected of a working element.
7. Proven that the old element is faulty we fit the new one in its casing.
8. Screw the element housing back in place, reattach the ntc sensor to the casing and reconnect the element wires.
9. Screw the back lid of the tumble dryer back into place
10. If we test the machine now, we can see that at low heat - only one side of the element - is drawing 3.5 amps and at high heat - both sides of the element - is drawing 6.5 amps.

How a NTC Sensor works on a Tumble Dryer
Hi,
what is the problem likely to be if
a/ the 2 stats on the heater element are ok and testing out continuity wise.
b/ the elements are ok
c/ The front NTC stat is working correctly
What else could cause a heating problem??
The machine is a BEKO DRCS 58W.
regards.
joe.
woithout seeing the machine this is hard for me to help with the chat
Want to change the capacitor on a White Knight C372wv. How do i get to it?????
Changed element on white knight 42AW and now it trips?
I have a White Knight 38AW tumble dryer. The gentle heat setting (preferred/default) doesn’t appear to be working as clothes aren’t drying as they once were, however the high heat setting appears to be functioning ok. What could this be a result of? As it is producing heat I’m unsure if it is a thermostat issue. I have identified an issue with the vent hose which will be replaced. But could it be the stat/TOC causing the issue? And is this an easy part to replace (for someone who has never done it before and has no electrical knowledge)?
I’ve replaced the heating element, the thermostats, rear and exhaust. Still blowing cold. What could it be. White Knight CL372WV.
