This video will show you how to replace a washing machine door lock (called an interlock); we will show you a step by step procedure on this process. This video can be used on Bosch, Constructa, Gaggenau, Neff, Schulthess, Siemens & some Smeg.
To find your door lock for your Washing Machine you will need the full model number and on some models we will even need the serial number as the manufactures sometimes have fitted more than one type to a model series.
There has been a few different types of door lock fitted on the Bosch manufactured machines over the last few years,
Some have screws holding the door lock in place others have plastic pins which need to be pressed in while sliding the lock One Direction then moving it Backwards and sliding it the other direction.
On older machines you are able to remove the front panel easily.
- Remove the kick strip, undo doing 2 - 4 screws at the bottom,
- Remove the wire Band around the door seal,
- peel the door seal off the frame into washer drum,
- remove the lid,
- remove the 3 screws inside the soap draw and one on the side of the panel,
- behind the facial panel you will find a couple more screws,
- then the panel slides away giving you access to the door lock,
On the more modern Types they vary as some you can take the panel off and others are more difficult.
The error codes on these machines can vary from model to model fault codes E01, F08, F16, F34, E61, All are normal related to the door lock. the things you need to check.
- connection to the circuit board from the door interlock,
- connection to the lock itself,
- broken wires on the loom
- faulty interlock
It is worth trying to clear the error code before you change the door lock, As this might solve the problem. but if the problem persists then you might need to change the door lock
You will need your full model number off the identification plate to be able to identify the correct lock for your machine.
