Indesit IWB5113 component exploded
Hi I have a Indesit IWB5113 all the lights were flashing and on investigation I found that the Z0607 triac on the power module had blown completely off the pcb. I have just ordered a new triac but I was wondering if you could advise me as to what may have caused this and if any other components would be defective. Any help with this would be greatly appreciatedThanksAlf

Hi Alfred,
Usually a blown component on a Washing machine PCB is due to either a power spike or a faulty component. I would have a look at the carbon brushes on your Indesit IWB5113 motor, as they can cause shorts on the PCB when they get worn out, as sometimes the conductive wire on the carbon gets exposed and touches directly on the motor armature. Then we have the motor itself that can burn out and "fry" the PCB. Look at the coolings on the motor for any sign on darkening of the coppers wires. Apart from motor, both the carbon brushes and there TRIAC are cheap enough to warrant a try before having an engineer looking at it or buying a new machine. See videos bellow for PCB repairs and carbon brushes replacing. Hope this helps.
