This tutorial can be used on CDA, Delonghi, Diplomat, Hygena, Elba, Kenwood, Tecnolec ovens or cookers Etc.It will show you how to diagnose the fault and how to replace a fan oven element.

The fan oven that has stopped heating up is one of the most common problems that oven repair & cooker repair engineers are called to.

The problem in most cases is simply a faulty fan oven element. To call out the manufacture (CDA, Delonghi, Diplomat, Hygena, Elba, Kenwood, Tecnolec) to replace an oven element is going to cost you in the region of £75 – £125.

Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating

If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty.

When you turn the oven on the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element.

Note that in some cases the fan oven element fails and it will trip the consumer unit’s rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board). If so then it needs to be re-set, but if every time you turn the fan oven on it keeps tripping then this could be a faulty element that has gone to earth.

The following symptoms should be apparent when testing your cooker:

  • Make sure your timer is not on auto.
  • Check to see if Fan oven is not heating up,
  • Check to see if fan in the oven is working fine,
  • Check to see if thermostat light is on.
  • On removal of the Fan Oven Element (see below) there may be visual signs of burning, blowing, or splitting but not in all cases. Is no sign of damage you will have to test with a meter.

Our video instructions will show you exactly how to replace a CDA, Delonghi, Diplomat, Hygena Elba, Kenwood, Tecnolec oven element yourself, and save you lots of money!

Hi, I have a Smeg oven (SE392MFB5) which has stopped heating. The fan element blew a long time ago but we have been using it with the top/bottom convection elements just fine. As of last week it just stopped heating any elements. I have checked the timer and reset the clock. I have checked both fans are working well. I have checked the resistance across the working elements and they are all good. And the thermostat appears to be working as it is switching and completing the circuit when rotated past the current temperature. The only oddity I can see is that the indicator LED is not working – could this be the culprit? Thanks.

    Hi
My Whirlpool oven stopped heating up on Friday.
I have changed the Element, switched power back on & it’s still not heating up.
What else do you think it could be. ?

Hello, I have a sarena sk313x/2 fan oven,

the fan oven started blowing cold air, so removed the element which had deformed and replaced with a new element with the correct model number.
Now the element is heating fine however the fan doesn’t come on. I let it heat up to 100’C, still no fan.
I tried restarting and re-setting the thermal trip but still no fan action 🙁 any tips?

    Hi,
We purchased a house with a Zanussi wall oven. The main fan on the back of the oven does not work and there is no heat on fanbake setting (but there is an airflow coming from somewhere).
It works on conventional oven and other settings. Any advice on cause and repairs please?

Hi, oven element blew (with a pop!) on our Zanussi ZBF360X, I have replaced it but now the oven light and orange ‘on’ light are both constantly on, even when the controls are set to zero temp / off. I’ve had a quick look inside but can’t see any obvious damage to wiring or components. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi, I have a smeg oven, turned it on a few days ago, a few minutes into cooking it tripped my electrics. I re-set the electrics but now the oven has no life at all. The light isn’t showing on the outside and no life when I switch anything on. It certainly isn’t a timer issue as it only has a countdown timer. Any suggestions please?

I have a Die Dietrich cooker, which I’ve had for years and no problems. Today, every time I turn on my main oven, the lower heating element on the base of the other smaller side oven (rotisserie) comes on and the smaller oven now only works when my main oven is on. Any ideas please?

Hi, My ignis AKL 888/01 electric oven has stopped heating and the oven timer is flashing – I am not able to set it. Also the fan also does not come on. I can turn on the oven light but nothing else works.
Could this be element related still?

    Thanks

Hi I have a chef select wall oven model number EOS631S.

The fan forced element wouldn’t heat, had it tested and found to be faulty. Baught a replacement element (Electrolux brand) and the element still doesn’t heat.

Other elements , fan, thermostat light all seem to be working.

I’ve checked the timer and is set off.

    What could the problem be?

    Regards

    Ross

    Hi,

I recently replaced the fan element in an Electrolux oven and after some minor issues with a bad factory fitting in one of the screws to the back plate all wen well.

But, (and you knew there would be one!) the oven light now only works intermittently. I assume something has become dislodged as a result of the element being replaced (there was very little slack in the wires). Any suggestions before I start looking into it?

    Thanks,
    Pete

  18. Hi, I have a CDA SC222SS oven and all of a sudden the fan has stopped spinning, the over still seems to heat up to temperature but no fan. It did occasionally make a weird grinding/knocking sound but that appeared to soon stop. Oven is about 1 years old. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have a Zanussi ZOD58 double oven. The main oven does not heat up on fan setting but is okay if just on normal oven setting?

Is there a separate element for the fan and another for normal oven?
