Beko D533W oven tripping the electrical supply and not heating now

I was cooking my Sunday lunch the other day and it tripped the electricity supply for the whole house after finding out that it was the cooker. I managed to reset the trip but now the oven works but it does not heat in the main oven. Looking forward to hearing from you Paul all the best, Jill

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ”§ Should your Beko oven, model D533W, struggle to heat up, there are a few things to check out. First off, a tripped electricity supply is often down to an element making contact with earth šŸŒ. But since you've already reset the oven, it's possible that one of the elements has blown during use. This means the element might have gone open circuit, which could be why it's not heating up šŸ”„.

Your cooker typically has 3 or 4 oven elements. An exploded diagram below shows exactly where each one is šŸ“Š. The fan oven element, often in use, might be the culprit and could have gone open circuit. To check this, whip out a multimeter šŸ”. There are some handy videos below that'll walk you through switching off the electricity, disconnecting the two wires from the element, and how to do a continuity test.

Elements usually pack about 2kW of power, and according to Ohm's law, their resistance should match up with this. If you find the element is open circuit, it'll need replacing. Don't worry, there are step-by-step videos for this below, too šŸŽ„. These elements aren't too pricey, and you'll find links for the right one for your cooker at the bottom of the page šŸ’·.

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that theĀ oven timerĀ is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that theĀ fan element or oven elementsĀ have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally anĀ elementĀ that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that theĀ grill elementĀ is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

TheĀ fan motorĀ may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simpleĀ thermostatĀ failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by theĀ fan motorĀ or main ovenĀ thermostatĀ or a faulty safetyĀ thermostatĀ that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of theĀ cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
