Hotpoint si9891spix oven, not heating correctly
Richard
Recently, my Hotpoint oven disrupted the power supply. It functions on one setting and the grill operates, but with the fan oven, despite a running fan and illuminated thermostatic light, it lacks heat. I suspect the issue lies in the fan element. Before disassembling, I seek your opinion. Could you provide guidance for removing and testing or replacing this component? Additionally, advice on examining other elements would be appreciated. Thank you for your time; I eagerly await your response. My model number isHotpoint 9 SI9 891 SP IX Electric Single Oven Built-in
I will try and help with your Hotpoint, single oven si9891spix problem.
Hello Richard,
These single ovens are fairly simple. Below, you'll find a diagram outlining the spare parts for this machine. We carry the most common failure-prone parts.
This oven has a circuit board, making it slightly more complex than standard models. First, check fan oven element (diagram number 451), base element (456), and grill element (452). Perform continuity checks on each to determine wattage using Ohm's law.
If heating issues persist, inspect the circuit board (#521). Relays within may have failed—testing is necessary to pinpoint problems.
To access these components: remove interior plate with screws; disconnect cooker from electricity supply; pull cooker out and go to rear of oven; take off one terminal after disconnection. Conduct Ohm readings on elements—expect around 2000 watts for fan oven element.
For further assistance or video guides on replacing elements and motors, visit our website's contact us page or search your model number in the site's search bar. If unsuccessful at finding needed part information, provide full model numbers and PNC/product numbers—we're happy to help locate correct components!

Common Hotpoint si9891spix oven Oven Faults with Links to the Right Repair Guide
I have also added some exploded diagrams below, along with a full list of parts and some videos to assist you.
- The oven will not turn on
The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not set to "auto." If it is, switch it to manual.
- No Heat in Oven
If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on, but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light is on in non-fan ovens and cookers), the likely issue is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.
- Electricity trips (RCD) when I turn the oven on or grill
This is usually due to an element that has gone to earth. This is a well-known fault in electric ovens; the insulation in the elements breaks down and trips the RCD. The best approach is to use a meter to check each element for earth leaks. However, this issue can also result from a wiring fault.
- The grill element doesn't work
This usually indicates that the grill element is faulty. Potential issues to check are the grill element, oven changeover switch, overheat thermostat, and main oven thermostat if it's used to regulate the grill temperature.
- The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy
The fan motor may need to be replaced. See the video for more details. The cooling fan motor can also cause similar problems.
- The oven overheats and burns everything
Normally, this issue results from a thermostat failure.
- The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while
This overheating problem can be caused by the fan motor, main oven thermostat, or a faulty safety thermostat. The cooling fan, where fitted, could also be a contributing factor. Usually, these fans become noisy before failing. Safety thermostats are used to prevent overheating and will shut the oven down.
